BIRTHDAY POST – A Reflection on the Past Year

It’s a birthday post…. Yay!! I can’t believe a year has already gone by. It feels like yesterday when I think of how crazy the last two weeks before my birthday was, with me running around and getting my post ready which included outfit planning/shopping and picture taking, all while planning my birthday celebrations, yes plural…. Celebrations and still giving a 100% of myself at work. I was under so much stress, but it was worth it in the end! I had a great and very memorable birthday last year. This year is different. I really want a lowkey birthday and I am perfectly happy with sitting in pajamas all day, doing absolutely nothing and simply appreciating my blessings. It’s obvious how serious I am about doing nothing because I have not taken any celebratory pictures this year, I mean, just click here and click here to view my previous birthday posts.

Birthday posts are my favorite, because it’s a time that I share more about myself than the outfits I am wearing. I think it is important to know the person behind the outfits because one of my reasons for blogging, is to meet fellow fashionistas. That is why posts like this mean a lot to me.

As I reflect on the past year, I have been blessed beyond my imagination and God has definitely answered some of my prayers.

WORK: To begin with, I got a promotion at my job which is always a good thing. It is great knowing that my hard work is recognized and appreciated. Additionally, new staff has brought new friendships. The two ladies I now work with are hilarious, inspiring and just amazing to work with. They make the eight-hour day fly by and its great working with people like that.

FRIENDSHIPS: The biggest blessing this year has been my “work mom” Alison. It is amazing how life brings people in your life at the right time. My friendship with Ali took off literally the day after the hardest breakup I have ever gone through (this was last year, I am completely over the breakup now). She was there to hear me cry while I question why things happen. She has given me the best advice in the world, including work and life advice and getting me out of the house when all I wanted to do was stay in bed depressed about a breakup. She has truly helped me get through this year and I am blessed to know her. I always tell her; she is my angel on earth because she really is. Love you Ali!!!

BLOG: The blog has done the best it ever has since I started back in 2016. I am still in shock that I am in The Washingtonian Magazine, in print on Southern Maryland Women’s Magazine and currently working with two other magazines (click here). Somebody pinch me! I cannot express enough how grateful I am for the opportunity to work with these magazines. Fashion is my ultimate passion and no matter how much I try to ignore it; I always get back to it. Thank you so much to everyone supporting me in whatever way you are, even if its hearing me stress about minor details. You all mean the most to me for simply being there. Also, these opportunities have made me inform my family about the blog (I am super shy about it). Seeing their support and excitement for me has made me want to do this even more and I cannot wait to share more outfit ideas.

I also want to mention what a blessing it has been to meet and work with my photographer, Ann. She is so talented and fun to work with. Thank you for capturing my outfits so well and for working as hard as you do. My pictures this year are simply out of this world. You are so awesome! 😊

Lastly, the most important people I want to thank, are you, my readers. I love doing this because I love sharing my ideas. If I can inspire you in any way, it makes doing this worth it. I am blessed to virtually meet you through this blog and please leave your comments, suggestions and ideas because I would love to hear your thoughts.

So cheers to thirty-two and to my blog turning four (Woah… how has it been four years already?!) Here I sit in PJ’s and tea in hand, reminiscing on the positives of the past year while looking forward to the next year and the new blessings that are yet to come. Wishing you a lovely week, thank you for visiting and I hope you enjoyed this post.

XoXo… Nia!!!
