Fun In Tweed

Have you ever looked through your closet, only to find the gems that you have in there but have overlooked this entire time? Because same! I tend to get motivated to create outfits by items I shop for. This was a nice change, to “shop” my closet instead. My sisters have always told me that I own an insane amount of clothes, yet, I didn’t want to believe them. (clears throat: I knew they were right the whole time). But, in my recent attempt to shop less and focus on buying necessities, because adulting requires it, I decided to play in my closet and see what I could come up with, and that is how this outfit came about.

Going back a few years, I discovered my mom’s closet and playing in her dresses and shoes as a kid was the highlight of my days. As an adult, playing dress up never stopped. Bored days are filled with outfit planning and how I would pair certain items together. And let’s not get started on how many outfits I have created on my Pinterest boards. I only wish those would be a reality by pinning them.

I love challenging myself to make a weird or difficult clothing item be as classy, appropriate and presentable as it can be. For this outfit, it was the skirt. I have hated the way that it rises so high up my belly and takes from my feminine figure as it eliminates the dip in my waist and taking away my hour glass figure. I decided to donate it a few years back but for some reason, it remained in my closet, and after this outfit, I am glad it did.  Additionally, wearing the belt to the skirt helped resolve the issue and bring my feminine figure back. Despite not being fully in love with the fit of the skirt, I really love the fall/winter material and print on the skirt, so I always knew there was potential to dress it up.

The grey turtle neck is another item that I have had in my closet for a while. It is super comfortable, and I love that it is such a versatile piece that works for both work and casual wear. For the shoes, I have always loved the combination of brown and grey which made the decision for these booties a little easier. Though I admit, I forgot I owned them, and it has been a very long time since they were worn and even longer since they have been featured on a blog post.

Finally, I added my black military coat, black scarf and added my blush pink purse for color. Because, pink is my favorite, it just has to be added to this outfit.  I wore my favorite diamond earrings and silver sunglasses and I am good to go. I still cannot believe that I already owned all these items and I am excited for what else I can create by “shopping” my closet. Hope this inspires you to do the same.

See you on my next post!

XoXo,… Nia!!!
